Finding Kiewa Country Cottages
Mt Beauty is located about an hour South East of Albury / Wodonga on the
Kiewa Valley Highway.
As you come into Tawonga South you will see Settlers
Tavern on the left, Pyles Coaches/Caltex on the right & we are the next right
hand turn. Simmonds Creek Rd has a signpost for Kiewa Country Cottages at the
end of it, we are 1km up on the left hand side. If you go over the bridge into
Mt Beauty you have gone too far.
- Driving from Melbourne - Approximately 4 hours via the Hume Highway, taking either the Great Alpine Road or
turning off the Hume Highway just after Glenrowan and taking the Snow Road
through Oxley, Milawa and Myrtleford.
From Myrtleford, you join the Kiewa Valley Highway by either by:
1) Taking the Happy Valley turnoff 5 km passed Myrtleford
2) Drive to Bright, take the turnoff to Mt Beauty, 5 km past Bright
(winding road through Tawonga Gap).
In both routes, you turn right upon reaching the T-intersection with the
Kiewa Valley Highway and proceed towards Mt Beauty.
- Driving from Sydney - Approximately 7-8 hours
via the Hume Hwy. Take the M5 Motorway South towards Campbelltown. Follow the
Hume Hwy past Goulburn and Gundagai to Albury. Take the Tallangatta exit (The
1st exit after you cross the NSW / VIC border). Follow until you reach a
roundabout at a T intersection and turn left. Approx 1.5km on your right will be
the Kiewa Valley Hwy, (signposted to Mt Beauty) turn right and follow for approx
1hr until you reach Tawonga South. Turn right at Simmonds Creek Rd (sign for
Kiewa Country Cottages on corner). We are 1km on the left.
- Driving from Canberra - Approximately 5 hours via Hume Hwy
- Driving from Adelaide - Approximately 10 to 12 hours
Touring the Victorian Alps - When driving at night there are often kangaroos, wombats & other
wildlife crossing the roads. During winter roads can also be icy or frosty,
please drive with care. There is no phone coverage in some areas, so please ensure you have enough fuel before getting into the country
areas especially at night.
